STROKES ARE BASED ON 'FEEL' NOT MECHANICS!

Remember the basic principles for learning tennis with my system is to develop a 'feel' for different strokes along with developing mental skills through REPETITION.  Repetition of simple procedures create that 'feel' NOT an over emphasis on the technical skills and mechanics.  Click here for an article that I wrote on 'feel' vs 'mechanics' in April 2001

Don't Take Your Tennis Racket Back!

Well, my picks at Wimbledon (Dinara Safina on the women's side and Roger Federer on the men's side) are still in the tournament! But I believe Safina is in for some major problems with the two Williams sisters playing so well, especially Venus, who by the way is Safina's next opponent.

I hope when you watch these Wimbledon matches that you take what you have learned from TennisWarrior.com and make application. Notice how the pros do not always hit with perfect strokes like many believe. Often you will see them flick at a ball for a winner or execute just a partial follow-through on a stroke. The pros hit with their body moving forward, sideways or backwards. They are letting the situation dictate the play, not superimposing some perfect tennis model over the instinct of the moment.

With that in mind, this tennis lesson and video explains how you should NOT jam the racket back too quickly on your groundstrokes. You should learn to seek a more natural and instinctive back swing like a pro's.

I have also included the last two video lessons in case you missed them or would like to review them.

ADDENDUM:  I teach a total system of thinking in regard to stroke production and mental attitude which I cannot explain in one email.  Although each lesson can stand alone you will derive tremendous physical and mental benefit by understanding the total philosophy.  These emails, my web site, books, and tapes are part of a course in tennis, not just isolated tennis tips.  They all fit together into a system.  A system that once understood can help you not only learn tennis at a faster rate, and develop mental toughness, but also give you the knowledge necessary to help guide you and your children to a better understanding of the developmental process.
